Prime vs Standby Generator Rating

Why generator duty must match operating hours, load profile and the applicable engine rating definition.

Prime vs Standby Generator Rating
Article

Standby ratings are intended for emergency operation during a normal power interruption, subject to the selected manufacturer rating definition and operating limits.

Prime ratings support variable-load operation for longer periods, again subject to the confirmed engine data and maintenance conditions. Continuous or base-load duty may require a different selection.

State expected annual hours, typical load, peak load and whether utility power is available. LINKPOWER will match the quotation to the confirmed duty rather than comparing nameplate kVA alone.
